All About Anemone blanda

Anemone blanda Anemone blanda, commonly called windflower, is a perennial which blossoms in the spring and lasts for about a month. It is available in shades of white, pink, blue and purple, and is similar in appearance to a daisy. Since the flowers are only 2 to 3 inches across, and the stems about 6 inches in height, they look best when they are planted together in a large group. However, they spread easily, and will eventually fill in a large area if left unchecked.

Growing Anemone blanda

Anemone is grown from tubers, and should be planted in the fall. It is not particularly fussy about the type of soil, although adequate drainage is always necessary. Choose a spot with full or partial sun. The tuber should be set about 3 inches into the ground with the pointed end down. Water well. If you wish to propagate them, they can be dug up and divided in the summer.

There are other types of anemone that blossom in the summer or in the fall. Be sure to check the package to see the planting requirements.
